Traditional Chinese musical instruments not only carry a long cultural history but also serve as significant mediums for healing the body and mind with their unique tones and charm. Instruments such as the guqin, guzheng, erhu, xiao, and flute, through their melodious tunes and rich timbres, can touch the heart, bringing deep relaxation and tranquility.
The guqin, revered as the "king of musical instruments," is known for its ancient and elegant sound, often used for self-cultivation and mental refinement. When playing the guqin, the vibration of its strings aligns with the rhythm of human breathing, helping to regulate emotions, alleviate stress, and achieve a state of unity between body and mind. The guzheng, with its clear and melodious tones, is frequently used to express emotions. Its smooth melodies can guide listeners into a meditative state, releasing inner anxiety and unrest.
The deep tones of the erhu and the distant sounds of the xiao can evoke deep emotional resonance within people. The mournful sound of the erhu is suitable for expressing emotions, while the ethereal tones of the xiao can make one feel the tranquility and harmony of nature. The rhythms of these instruments not only soothe the soul but also regulate the body's physiological rhythms through sound wave vibrations, promoting blood circulation and enhancing immunity.
In the fast-paced modern life, listening to or playing traditional Chinese musical instruments can help people temporarily escape the hustle and bustle, returning to inner peace. Whether through musical meditation or personal performance, these instruments can become remedies for healing the body and mind, allowing one to find balance and harmony in the melodies.

I am excited to introduce you to a unique and profound therapeutic approach—Guided Imagery and Music, or GIM, developed by Helen Bonny. This method is a form of receptive music therapy, where the participant is guided through music and imagery in a deeply relaxed state. The carefully selected music helps to open pathways to the unconscious, facilitating emotional expression, self-discovery, and healing.
Through GIM, individuals are able to explore their inner world, connecting with emotions and memories, and finding insights in a safe, nonverbal way. This type of therapy can be incredibly transformative, as it allows the person to experience healing and personal growth through the power of music.
As part of this presentation, I will guide you through a short Music Journey—a live experience of how receptive music therapy works and how it can provide insights into your inner world. I invite you to sit back, relax, and let the music guide you.

Against this grand backdrop, "Cycle of Life" Global Healing Art Contest and Exhibition embarks on a journey of spiritual exploration that transcends borders, cultures, and artistic forms.
The cycle of life is the rhythm of nature and the inheritance of the soul. It carries the hope of new beginnings, the resilience of growth, the wisdom of aging, and the power of rebirth. Each stage of life bears the weight of history, filled with emotional waves and the enlightenment of wisdom. Healing, on the other hand, is one of the innate missions of art. In the midst of a noisy world, it offers a tranquil harbor for weary souls, using tender strokes, vibrant melodies, and vivid colors to soothe life's wounds and awaken the love and courage deep within.
"Cycle of Life" Global Healing Art Competition and Exhibition invites expressive art therapists, healers, artists, and art enthusiasts (in literature, painting, dance, music, theater, and more) from around the world to interpret the cycle of life through their unique forms of expression. Together, we will explore the scars, virtues, love, and strength passed down through generations, allowing these wounds to transform under the nourishment of art, repairing the scars and revitalizing the infinite energy of life.
Come on, for life is an infinite game. Let us heal the intergenerational wounds in our exploration of life's cycles and discover the self-healing power within. Through the fusion and collision of art, let us uncover the mysteries of life's cycles, convey the power to heal the soul, and light a warm and bright beacon of hope for the world.
This exhibition is a global online exhibition, open for recruitment of art expression artists from around the world. No age limit, no form limit, free expression, let us continue the theme of "Circle of Life" through different artistic expressions, delving into deeper dimensions of existence to heal, to transcend the finitude of life, and to venture into the boundless and expansive realms of human experience.
The artistic expression with "Circle of Life" as the theme can be expressed in various forms such as literature, painting, dance, music, drama, etc.

With the "Echoes of love" Global Healing Art Contest and Exhibition was officially released on September 27th. The International Art Education & Therapy Development Academic Association is honored to invite Ms. Wang Lingyi, the co-curator of the first "Call of Love - Global Healing Art Contest and Exhibition" and the creator of the Love Call theme song, to compose the theme song for this exhibition again. This is also the second anniversary retrospective exhibition after the first "Call of Love" Global Healing Art Competition and Exhibition. Therefore, the release of this theme song is also a stage summary of International Art Education & Therapy Development Academic Association's Global Healing Art Competition and Exhibition, and a response to the expansion of the new call of love.
Always Sustaining Me is a new creation by Ms. Wang Lingyi in 2024, which has received widespread attention and love since its release. The International Art Education & Therapy Development Academic Association is also honored to have Ms. Wang Lingyi's "Always Sustaining Me" as the theme of the "Echoes of Love" Global Healing Art Competition and Exhibition (2nd Anniversary Review Exhibition). In order to further explore and understand the special significance of this theme song and exhibition, the society conducted a special interview with Ms. Wang Lingyi. The following is the complete interview content:
IAETDAA: Hello! We are delighted to join hands with you again at the "Echoes of Love" Global Healing Art Competition and Exhibition, and it is great honored to invite you to create the theme song for this exhibition. Can you provide a specific introduction to this theme song? And why was this music chosen as the theme song for the exhibition?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): This theme song, “Always Sustaining Me” (Love Descends from Heaven), is actually a song about God’s love. His love heals hearts, comforts souls, and fills our beings. When everything in the world fades away, love remains. Love brings hope and returns us to God’s image. This love brings us back to our essence—who we truly are. The human heart is the source of strength, the place where God’s light resides in the universe. God is love. This love rises from within us, as the song says, “Love strengthens us”—Always Sustaining Me. The song title also carries this meaning.
IAETDAA: The first "Call of Love" Global Healing Art Contest and Exhibition was proposed by you and curator Zhao Yan to hold a healing art competition. Later, they hit it off and the exhibition of "Call of Love" was created. Why did you have such an idea at that time?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): There are many energies at work in this world, and love is one of them. I believe that every piece of art contains its own energy. A small spark can ignite an entire prairie; a piece of art can speak to a lost soul. Love needs to be called upon, love needs to be expressed, and love should be placed as a beacon on high. Therefore, through this opportunity to co-initiate this event with the International Association for Expressive Arts Therapy Development (IAETDAA), I aim to ignite the memory of love within the artist community from an international perspective, thereby fostering the world’s longing and pursuit of love.
IAETDAA: Similarly, your song "Call of Love" (also known as "Be Called As Love") became the theme song for the "Call of Love" global healing art competition and exhibition, injecting power into the first Call of Love. Now, what does this mean for you and the exhibition? And what is the experience of the entire process?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): The song “Call Of Love” is not merely about the greatness of love; it also touches on the pain that love can bring, the inevitable cost and sacrifice it entails, such as Christ’s death for love. As Kahlil Gibran’s poem says:
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you, yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you, believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you;
Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Love gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become...
The theme song of “Call of Love” (also known as “Be Called As Love”) conveys the same message. If it is love, one cannot only accept its sweetness but must also endure its bitterness and trials. Being able to compose the theme song for the “Call of Love” Global Healing Arts Competition and Exhibition is a special blessing for me. Seeing this music touch people’s hearts and help them find the inner peace and strength that comes from the dual aspects of joy and sorrow in love brings me immense satisfaction and gratitude. The entire process was filled with inspiration and emotion. Having this song as the theme for the exhibition makes me feel God’s guidance and grace. Collaborating with other artists and organizers has been very pleasant, and we are all working together to convey the essence of God’s love and the healing power of art.
IAETDAA: This' Echo of Love 'is a feedback following the' Call of Love '. How do you want to give back and how can we continue and expand our' Love 'to influence more people?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): “Echoes of Love,” as a continuation of “Call of Love,” is a wonderful opportunity to further spread the healing power of God’s love. I plan to hold more gospel music healing events in the future, especially in communities that need spiritual support and encouragement. Through these activities, I hope to interact directly with more people and share the healing power of God’s love through music. Additionally, I intend to collaborate with other artists to create more gospel music and art, continuing to convey the message of love. We can organize global art exhibitions and concerts both online and offline, allowing more people to experience this love and healing power. To ensure that this “love” continues and expands, I believe education and outreach are also very important. We can use social media, lectures, and workshops to introduce more people to the essence of God’s love and encourage them to participate in this process.
IAETDAA: Returning to the theme song "Echoes of Love", this time the theme song is "Always Sustaining Me". Can you introduce the creative background of this work?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): My creative inspiration generally comes from my personal life experiences and a sense of mission to convey universal love under God’s common grace.
IAETDAA: The song 'Always Sustaining Me' is particularly ethereal after listening to it. I feel that the light of love penetrates the body from top to bottom and infiltrates the soul. Can you briefly introduce this work from the perspective of lyrics and music?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): Thank you for your appreciation! The lyrics of this song mainly express gratitude for God’s continuous support and guidance. The main themes include:
Unconditional love and support from God, the lyrics repeatedly mention that God is supporting and strengthening us.
Trust and faith : They express trust in God, believing that no matter what difficulties we face, God will guide us through them.
Rest for the soul: Emphasizing that in God’s embrace, the soul can find rest and righteousness.
In terms of melody, the song typically features a gentle and emotional tune that complements the emotional expression of the lyrics. The melody line is usually smooth and flowing, giving a sense of tranquility and comfort. The chord progression is simple yet powerful, using major chords to convey feelings of positivity and hope. The rhythm is relatively slow, matching the deep and contemplative nature of the lyrics, allowing listeners to better appreciate their meaning.Through this song, I hope to convey my faith and gratitude to God to the listeners, inspiring them to find strength and hope in their lives.
IAETDAA: What has music creation brought to you in the past two years, from the "Call of Love" to the "Echo of Love"?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): Music creation has brought me solace and has provided healing and peace to the listeners.
IAETDAA: From creation to release, 'Always Sustaining Me' has been loved by many viewers and has brought many healings. From your creative perspective, what do you hope to bring to the audience?
Lingyi Wang(Symphony): What I hope to convey to the listeners mainly covers the following aspects.
Firstly, faith in God’s love: I want listeners to feel God’s unconditional love and support, finding inner peace and strength from Him regardless of the challenges and difficulties they face in life.
Secondly, hope and comfort: This song aims to provide comfort to those who feel lost or confused, letting them know they are not alone and that God is always by their side.
Thirdly, healing of the soul: I hope to help listeners heal their inner wounds and find a place of rest for their souls.
Lastly, community connection: I hope this song can serve as a bridge, connecting listeners and forming a community that returns to God’s love.
In terms of physical healing, I hope this song can have a therapeutic effect in promoting better sleep and emotional stability.
