When the faint sound of cracking emerges beneath the last layer of ice—that is the oldest secret of spring, and also the truest gesture of art: to knock where barriers stand, to sprout where silence reigns.
Breaking Barriers • Tender Shoots is not a gentle ode to spring. It is an active, even slightly painful, excavation inward. We invited artists to confront the invisible walls that lie within and around us: the inescapable loneliness of the digital age, the silenced individual voices amidst relentless acceleration, and the increasingly blurred boundaries between humanity and nature, between self and other, between who we are and who we long to become.
Remarkably, 38 artistic voices from 20 countries have responded—through paintbrushes, lenses, bodies, and sounds—with answers that differ yet resonate deeply. Their works do not avoid fractures or disguise vulnerability. On the contrary, they choose to pause and gaze at the broken places, and ultimately, to let a sliver of light enter through the cracks.
This is the true meaning of tender shoots: not a false prosperity that denies winter, but the conviction that beneath the frozen soil, roots are still gathering strength in the dark, and new buds are still pushing through the weight of the earth.
This exhibition is an invitation. We invite every viewer to step into this barrier-breaking ground cultivated by creators from around the world. Here, you may encounter a wall being knocked upon, or glimpse an unfamiliar sprout. May you see, reflected within, the boundary within yourself that is beginning to loosen—and hear, in this spring, the first clear echo of its opening.
Encapsulating Sensations explores the liminal space of existence before emergence, where life unfolds within protective enclosures that both shield and separate. Within these capsules, sensations are not diminished but intensified—light diffuses into soft gradients, sound reverberates as internal rhythm, and movement becomes a fluid dialogue between containment and becoming. This work invites viewers to inhabit a state of heightened perception, echoing the earliest conditions of life where connection is felt before it is understood.
Except for the long, omnipresent wind, everything else is dust. In the vast ocean of time, you and I are but tiny, ordinary specks of dust—rising and falling with the wind, yet never sinking. Even as dust, we each have our own trajectory, harboring the strength to break through the earth and grow. When we yearn to rise, we need not be trapped by our smallness nor discouraged by our ordinariness. We can dance in the wind and bloom amid the dust. Every spin and every stretch is a passionate response to life—to strive before the dust settles, to dance fully before life ends. This is the original intention behind "Even dust dances, breaking through barriers to live."
