Some pain cannot be reached by words.
Some memories are never forgotten by the body.
Artdonnance is an integrative approach that bridges art, emotional regulation, and experiential pedagogy. It provides a structured framework enabling practitioners to facilitate emotional transformation through guided creative prescriptions, while ensuring participant safety and ethical standards.
At the intersection of medicine and art, Artdonnance® Art Prescription offers a new possibility: not forcing words, but allowing what has remained unspoken to finally take form.
This program has been systematically organized based on the final scientific and methodological framework established by Dr. Nesrine Helali Asses, founder of Artdonnance®, and reviewed and accredited by the International Art Education and Therapy Development Academic Association (IAETDAA) according to rigorous international standards. It fully presents the conceptual framework, content system, and professional value of the Level 1 Certification Program.
Artdonnance® is an experiential and observational framework at the intersection of art-based practice, neurodevelopmental support, and inclusive education. Born at the convergence of medical practice and artistic mediation, it is an integrative therapeutic approach.
It is NOT:
· ❌ Free artistic expression
· ❌ Traditional art therapy
· ❌ Unstructured creative activity
It IS:
· ✅ A conscious creative prescription
· ✅ Every gesture carries intention
· ✅ Every creation becomes a doorway to inner change

Founder of Artdonnance®
· Medical Doctor (General Medicine), with years of clinical experience
· Art Therapist, dedicated to the interdisciplinary integration of medicine and the arts
· President of the Art Prescription Professional Committee, International Art Education and Therapy Development Academic Association (IAETDAA)
Dr. Nesrine Helali Asses began her career in clinical medicine. Through years of practice, she came to deeply understand that much suffering cannot be expressed through words—and that art can offer a pathway for transforming such silent pain.
This insight led her to found Artdonnance® Art Prescription: an integrative therapeutic approach that bridges medical rigor, artistic sensitivity, and human depth.
She firmly believes: “When words fail, art begins to speak.”

These four pillars form a dynamic therapeutic movement.
Artdonnance® is grounded in:
· Affective Neuroscience – Understanding the neural mechanisms of emotion and body
· Trauma Studies – Somatic storage and symbolic transformation of trauma
· Symbolic Processes – The healing power of images and symbols
· Experiential Learning – Deepening understanding through practice
Scientific Positioning:
· Evidence-based design, informed by internationally recognized principles
· Alignment with established global standards of good practice
· Integration of multidimensional assessment: sensory, motor, cognitive, and expressive domains
· Transparent, reproducible methodology suitable for clinical and educational contexts
Core Principles:
1. Listening & Observation – Attentive and structured observation of the individual’s expression and responses.
2. Creation & Expression – Facilitation of spontaneous, authentic artistic creation as a therapeutic medium.
3. Guided Autonomy – Interventions progressively support independent exploration while maintaining safety and structure.
4. Integrated Feedback – Continuous evaluation informs adaptive intervention strategies.
5. Peace & Well-being – Focus on emotional regulation, resilience, and self-awareness.
Artdonnance is built upon clear methodological principles:
✅ Person-centered – Respecting each individual’s uniqueness and inner rhythm
✅ Process-oriented – Process over artistic performance, experience over final product
✅ Safe and non-interpretive – No analysis, no judgment, no forced interpretation
✅ Therapeutic goal rooted in experience – Relies on the experience of creation and symbolic expression, not on the final artistic quality
Case 1: Secondary Trauma in a Medical Context
A woman accompanying her sister during breast surgery was asked to carry the removed breast to the pathology laboratory. This routine medical procedure triggered a profound emotional shock.
Artdonnance® Intervention: Through painting, she reprocessed the image of that traumatic moment, allowing "seeing" to become the beginning of healing.
Case 2: Intergenerational Trauma and Symbolic Reconfiguration
A patient carried the weight of intergenerational family trauma. A specific phone call became the final link breaking her emotional balance—not the source of the trauma, but the symbolic condensation of all her pain.
Artdonnance® Intervention: Therapeutic focus on the symbolic meaning of "that phone call," using artistic media to allow the patient to reconfigure this symbol on a symbolic level.
Case 3: Infertility and "Watercolor Reconfiguration" (Aquaref)
A woman facing infertility gradually retreated into a symbolic world composed of her mother's jewelry and marine imagery—a space offering protection, femininity, and continuity, but also becoming an isolated sanctuary.
Artdonnance® Intervention: Designed the "Watercolor Reconfiguration" (Aquaref) exercise, combining the fluidity of watercolor with symbolic reconstruction, helping the patient reconnect with her inner creative flow.
